Founded in 1972 by Melih Celet, DESA employs a team of skilled craftsmen and artisans. DESA has been continuing its operations as a producer of leather and leather products, signing off significant accomplishments over 40 years. DESA’s operations include a tannery, two plants for production of women, men wear, handbags and accessories as well as distribution of those products via retail channels. It owns and controls the entire production process from premium raw hide to finished product, utilising its own tannery and production facilities. These integrated manufacturing facilities combine traditional handcrafted techniques with the newest technological advances, enabling DESA to produce the highest quality leather products in the most flexible, innovative and efficient way possible.

DESA’s retail operations are mainly domestic with 68 DESA, 21 DESA Samsonite, 6 DESA Franchise and 12 Samsonite JV totalling 107 stores in addition to one store in London and two online stores as of 2014 year-end. In addition to production facilities with a total area of 25,500 m² in Istanbul and Duzce, DESA owns a tannery with an area of 20,000 m² located in Corlu. Company provides integrated solutions for several international brands such as Prada, Miu Miu and Chanel. After 26 years of distribution for Samsonite, world’s biggest travel products manufacturer, DESA strengthened its international profile further by establishing a 40%-60% joint venture with Samsonite in 2007.
